Appointments

Urgent appointments

All patients requesting to see a doctor are added onto the ‘triage list’ for a call back from a practitioner. Initially you will be contacted by phone. A GP will agree the best course of treatment which may or may not include a face to face appointment. They will assess the urgency of the problem and allocate the patient to the most appropriate medical professional for treatment.

You can request an urgent appointment for today (Monday to Friday) during opening times on 01842 752285.

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use your answers to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.

Routine appointments

To request a routine appointment during opening times:

  • phone us on 01842 752285 between 8:30am and midday Monday to Friday
  • use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App) or SystmOnline to book an appointment, screening test or vaccination
  • use our get help for any health problem form and we will contact within 2 working days

We will respond to requests within 2 working days. Non-urgent requests after 4:30pm may be dealt with the next day.

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use your answers to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.

Enhanced access

Additional appointments are available between 6:30pm and 8am every weekday evening and Saturdays.

Patients registered with any participating GP surgery within the Thetford and Watton area will be able to have an appointment at these extra clinics. You may be asked to attend a face to face appointment at a different surgery.

Please view more information on the Enhanced access service.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • on a video call
  • by text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

To cancel your appointment:

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

We realise home visits are sometimes necessary. However, they do take our doctors three times as long to undertake as a surgery consultation. Potentially limiting our ability to see as many patients as we would like.

Please telephone to request a visit before 10:30am and be prepared to provide the receptionist with details of your symptoms.

A member of our team may call you back to offer advice, provide an estimated time of visit or alternatively request that you attend the surgery.

Clinical photographs

Photos sent to the practice may be stored on the patient’s record. If you have any specific objections, please contact the practice immediately.
